KEYS TO DEEPER SPIRITUAL JOY & GROWTH

Join Shaykh Mokhtar Maghraoui, Shaykh Riad Saloojee, and other teachers of the Al-Madina Seminary as they explore timely, tested, and transformative spiritual wisdom from saintly scholars of Islamic spirituality: Shaykh ibn ‘Ata’illah, Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani, and Shaykh Ahmed al-Sirhindi, may Allah sanctify their souls.

The program's goal is to grow in nearness to Allah by drawing practical lessons from the spiritual wisdom of three great scholar-saints in the Islamic tradition.

These daily knowledge sessions will be broadcast online from Istanbul, Turkiye. The sessions will take place over two weeks during July. The number of knowledge sessions will be 10, seven delivered by Shaykh Mokhtar and three by the teachers of Al-Madina’s Seminary.

Daily classes will be broadcasted at 6:30 pm EST.  Classes will be uploaded to Thinkific the following day.

Primary Teacher

Shaykh Mokhtar Maghraoui

Originally from Algeria, he is thoroughly versed in the Islamic sciences and holds a doctorate joined between the fields of physics and engineering. His expertise includes the disciplines of Tazkiyah and Fiqh, and he is best known for his enlightening retreats and seminars empowering Muslims on their spiritual quest. Shaykh Riad Saloojee

Shaykh Riad Saloojee is a lawyer by training and has worked in the fields of media and political activism. He studied the Islamic sciences at Dār al-‘Ulūm al-‘Arabīyya al-Islāmīyya (DUAI), a well-known Islamic seminary of higher learning in Cape Town, South Africa, where he also taught for a number of years after graduation. His teachers include Shaykh Muḥammad Emin Er (May Allah sanctify his soul), Shaykh Mokhtār Maghrāoui, Shaykh Tāha Karaan, Shaykh Muaadth Allie and Shaykh Abdurragman Khan, among others.

Ustādh, Dr. Amir Abdelzaher

Dr. Ustadh Amir Abdelzaher is the former principal of the Suhbah Children’s School at the Suhbah Fellowship Program in Turkey. He obtained his Ph.D from the University of Miami, taught at several universities, and was a teacher and Director of Planning at the Islamic School of Miami. He sees a teacher as a bridge who takes the child gradually, progressively, to higher levels of spiritual and intellectual understanding, maturity and practice. He had overseen the integration of a visionary Islamic paradigm of practical character-centric spirituality in the school’s ethos, curriculum and teaching.

Ustādh Naeem Saloojee

Naeem Saloojee is the Director of Programming for the Al-Madina Institute’s family and adult programming. He left his position as CEO of a start-up company in artificial intelligence to join the Ṣuḥba Fellowship Program in Istanbul with his family. Before that, he was the Director of Operations for a successful national Islamic advocacy organization. His special interest in Islamic educational programming is to find ways to bridge, project and translate the rich, spiritual and rational legacy of Islamic teachings in ways that are practical, contextual and applicable for modern Muslims.

Program Oveview

This program includes 7 classes delivered by Shaykh Mokhtar and an additional 3 classes which will be delivered by the teachers of the Al-Madina Suhba Seminary. Class time will be approximately 2 hours each day from Monday to Friday for both weeks of the program.

Class recordings will be posted by 6:30 pm EST, with the following class format:

  • 20 Minutes for Dhikr

  • 60 Minutes for Session 1

  • 10 Minute Break

  • 50 Minutes for Session 2
